Block 3
Moffat Area, Block 3 was evaluated using the methods described in BLM Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composite soil surface factor score for this site was 21.0, which places it
in the Slight erosion class. This area was seeded in the spring of 1995 and resides on a fairly
steep hillside. Vegetation on this block is more sparse than adjoining blocks, but it was seeded
later than the adjacent blocks. There are gullies on the steep face of this block that will be
repaired as detailed later in the Cortectfonal Measures and Methods Summary. The tabulated
results for this survey are shown in Table 3.
Block 4
Moffat Area, Block 4 was evaluated using the methods described in BLM Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composite soil surface factor score for this site is 18.0, which places it in
the Stable erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are shown in Table 4. This area
shows improvement compared to last year. The erosional features noted in the survey are on
the center section of this block toward the bottom of the hill. This area is lacking some of the
dertse vegetation needed to contrd erosion adequately, however it was just interseeded in the fall
of 1995. Remediation is planned for this block and will consist of repairing the gullies with a
dozer and further seeding the repaired area.
Block 5
Moffat Area, Block 5 was evaluated using the methods described in B1~1 Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composite soil surface factor score for this site is 21.0, which places it in
the Slight erosion lass. The tabulated results for this survey are shown In Table 5. Several
gullies in this block were repaired in 1995. Although several gullies were noted in the bottom
one third of the block, most seem to have vegetation establishing on the sides and bottoms, thus
this bbck will not receive repair activities as a result of this inventory.
Block 6
Moffat Area, Block 6 was evaluated using the methods described in BLM Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composite soil surface factor score for this site is 24.0, which places it in
the Slight erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are shown in Table 6. Gullies in
the lower end of this block will be repaired as detailed in the Correctional Measures section of
this report.
Block 7
Moffat Area, Block 7 was evaluated using the methods described in BLM Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composte soil surface factor score for this site is 20.0, which places it in
the Stable erosion class. The tabulated results for this wrvey are shown in Table 7. This score
is a big improvement over a score of 43.0 in 1995. This Improvement is representative of the
1995 repairs which show about a 50% success. The vegetation is also more established, so less
flow patterns are evident. Gullies that do exist in this block show signs of vegetation on the
3
