sides and bottoms of the features. It is believed that these features are stabilizing and thus this
block will not be added to the remediation list for this years report.
Block 8
Moffat Area, Block 8 was evaluated using the methods described in BLM Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composite soil surface factor score for this site is 23.0, which places it in
the Slight erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are shown in Table B. This again
is an excellent improvement over the 1995 score. This area was seeded in 1995 after the
annual erosion irnentory. The new vegetation is helping to control erosion. The bottom area of
this block shows the most severe rills and gullies, but all have new vegetation on the sides and
bottom. None of these gullies are severe enough to warrant repair at this time.
Bloek 9
Moffat Area, Block 9 was evaluated using the methods described in BLM Technical Note No. 346.
The erosion condition composite soil surface factor score for this site is 30.0, which places it in
the Slight erosion class. The tabulated results for this survey are shown in Table 9. The north
end of this block above the Moffiat pond has gullies in need of repair. The spoil springs in this
block have caused a system of gullies that will be repaired when the area is dry enough to work
with machinery. There are also gullies further south of the spoil spring that will be repaired at
the same time.
Table 1 through 9 show compiled SSF scores for 1995 and 1996. Table 10 is a summary of all
inventoried Moffat Area blocks.
Table 1: Moffat Area Block 1 Erosion Condition Classification
tLg1Li Score Total Possibl e Score ] 995 Score

Soil Movement 3 14 5
Surface Litter 0 14 0
Surface Rock Fragments 2 14 2
Pedestalling 0 14 0
Flow Patterns 3 15 6
Rills 6 14 6
Gullies ~ ~ ~,
Total 17 100 22
Erosion Condition Classification Score: 17.0 -Stable
4
