-z-
Jeff Saunders outlined the hydrologic baseline monitoring
system presently established and future activities planned in
order to address the hydrologic issues associated with the
planned mining operations. This activity would include modeling
surface, underground and allevial water within the Twentymile
Park to formulate an overall water balance within the area. Roy
Cox stated "that is exactly what we need". When questioned as
to additional data collection points that may be required, other
than those presented, Roy suggested that a monitoring station
down stream on Trout Creek may be needed to assess the effects of
the planned mining on the ephemeral drainages to Trout Creek below
the confluence of Fish and Trout Creeks. Roy felt that one station
would be adequate.
Kent Crofts presented the wildlife issues within the planned
mining area. He requested clarification on the concerns of the
CMLRD for Greater Sandhill Cranes. Sandy Emrich stated that she
~~~ was not presently familiar with the specific concerns associated
with the species but she would become familiar and she could address
them in future meetings. The CMLRD stated that they would like to
be involved with all future wildlife issues which we may conduct with
the Colorado Division of Wildlife.
Larry Damrau presented the plan to conduct compliance activities
for Cultural and Historic Resources in much the same manner as
was presented in the Foidel Creek Permit Revision. The CMLRD stated
that such activities would satisfy their requirements and recommended
contact with OSM to insure that all federal Archaeological
requirements are met.
Larry Damrau presented the fact that since no new surface
disturbance is anticipated to take place in the five year permit
period the present Emissions Permits would not require modification
until such time that production exceeded 575,000 tons per year.
Kent Crofts presented vegetation, soils and land use issues
which are planned to be addressed in the permit application. Sandy
Emrich expressed the concern of the need for additional vegetation
