' Mr. Jerome F. Gamba -2- August 8, 1983
Exhibit D -Mining Plan
As stated, one of the reasons for this amendment is because of
-F° o~~~ the unexpected abundance of overburden and topsoil encountered.. Is the
`,~~'~'Division correct in believing that the topsoil and overburden are being
`'S,~~` stockpiled separately? To maintain topsoil quality, the topsoil should
be stockpiled separately from the overburden.
~ ~R It is the Division's understanding that the stockpiles for
yob topsoil and overburden are still located in the northern part of Phase I
N~'o<4 and just encompass a larger area than originally anticipated. Is this
5 ~ correct?
a-
S"
Rc„~-'FyF ~ Your correspondence of December 14, 1981 specifies that the
survey and design data for the haul road would be forwarded to the
Division. This information was never supplied to the Division,
therefore, please submit it now.
C. Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan
Your correspondence of December 14, 1981 specifies.that "...if
additional material is found to be available, attempts will be made to
C~ develop 3:1 slopes...". Since there is an over abundance of excess
,~ material at this site, the Division assumes the final slopes will now
a' have a slope gradient approaching 3:1 instead of 2:1. Is this correct?
Your letter of July 25, 1983 specifies the soil in this area is
~~ basic. What is the actual pH of the soil at this site? The soils
information provided on map 2 of 3 does not provide soil pH information.
Part of the reason foc this amendment is to modify or change
the seed mixture. With this in mind, the Division suggests the following
seed mixture. This seed mixture emphasizes a diverse native species
(pursuant to C.R.S. 1973, 39-32-116(1)(f)) and includes a legume species
for its nitrogen -fixing abilities.
S ies
Pounds PLS Per Acre
Drilled Broadcast
~~ Green Needlegrass 2.4 9.8
~~
Smooth Brome 1.8 3.6
Slender Wheatgrass 2.7 5.4
Western Wheatgrass 3.4 6.8
Yellow Sweetclover 1.0 2.0

11.3 22.6
~ Will any mulches and/or fertilizers be used?
