For the portal area on the side of the hill, the SCS <br />identified deep, well-drained soils with an average topsoil depth of about 26 inches <br />and subsoil depths ranging to 60 inches. <br />As requested by the landowner on page 187.1 of the permit application, Sunland <br />Mining Corp. imported 6 inches of topsoil medium to reclaim the facilities bench <br />area (encompassing about 3.1 acres). For the remainder of the area, the backfilled <br />material was analyzed and appropriate amendments will be added in April of 1993 <br />as recommended by the analysis (4.06.](2)). <br />V. Sealing of Drilled Holes and Underground Openings <br />Sunland Mining Corp. sealed the mine portals with 25 feet of inert material as <br />required by the Mine Health and Safety Administration (MSHA). Besides the <br />Apex No. 2 Mine portals, Sunland Mining Corp. will also seal the adjacent <br />Apex No. 1 Mine portal currently being used by Sunland Mining Corp. for a bleeder <br />fan. Information pertaining to sealing of openings and drill holes is presented on <br />pages 182, 190.2, 190.21, and 190.3 of the permit application. <br />VI. Use of Explosives <br />No surface blasting was conducted at this underground mine. Therefore, the <br />requirements of this section are not applicable (4.08.3(2)(b)(i)). <br />VII. Disposal of Excess Spoil <br />The Apex No. 2 Mine has not generated excess spoil. (4.09.1(1)). <br />VIII.
