MRR-11-1994 13 54 FROM ~LNAhI TECH SUC DEU LAH TO •
State of Colorado
Maned Laced Reclamation
13038328106 P.006i007
Page 4
Exhibit D (a) explains that quarry cuts are numbered
in sequence of removal (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, etc.).
Even and odd-numbered cuts are in different locations
to facilitate overburden placement in the adjacent
worked-out cut while production removal of limestone
can proceed from a cut in the other location (cuts
indicated on pcc-1387). Thus overburden from cut 3
can be placed directly into cut 1, cut 4 into cut 2,
cut 5 into cut 3, cut 6 into cut 4, etc.
An effort has been made to furnish as much infor-
mation about this long range quarry operation as
currently anticipated. Contingencies as mentioned
in paragraph (e) Exhibit D are particularily applicable
to the mining of low value materials from this quarry.
Deposits in the Portland East and Concrete quarries
lack sufficient exploration to detail quarry operation.
In view of these contingencies it is not considered
practical or meaningful to attempt to establish
mining details beyond the 20 to 25 years indicated.
Experience with the operation of quarries of this
nature indicate the probability thst frequent amend-
ments to the mining and reclamation plans as well as
the regulations will be necessary. Future inspections,
changes in surety, etc. are expected to indicate well
in advance the need for such amendments.
1
V
1.
~~: ~ ~ ,'
4. Paragraph C reference to possible future rerouting
of Bear Creek prior to development of the Portland
quarry. It was mentioned that rerouting of
this small creek would be beneficial. Speculation
or alternate routing should perhaps not have been
mentioned in the application as a detail study of
ell features would be most timely in about 20 years.
We are not fully certain at this time. whether the
Portland East or Concrete quarries will be operated
first after the Portland West quarry nears completion
Exhibit E - Reclamation Plan.
Tho slope of original surfaces vary from flat to
vertical. Map pcc-1387 shows the contour (5 ft.
intervals) of the present surfaces and is con-
sidered to be the only practical way to present
this information. Exhibit E (g) (i) mentions an
estimate that q0% of the reclaimed land will be
flat enough to accommodate mechanized wheel mounted
