M <br />RMR-CURE~i000-003 <br />M <br />4 <br />markers must be reestablished in accordance with accepted survey practices <br />at the expense of the permittee. <br />18. The transporting, storage, andlor use of explosives within the NRA is <br />prohibited without prior written permission of dte Superintendent. The <br />conveyance, use, and storage of said explosives shall be in compliance with <br />all federal, state and local requirements. <br />19.* Mining operation shall be appropriately posted and fenced or otherwise <br />protected to minimize injury to persons, livestock, and wildlife. <br />20. All access and haul roads shall be constructed and maintained in such a <br />manner as to control and minimize channeling and erosion. Roads shall be <br />constructed only at locations approved by the Superintendent within the <br />permit azea. A system of double locks will be developed and maintained for <br />access into the gravel pit by the permittee/operator and Superintendent. <br />21. All vehicle travel within the jurisdiction of Curecanti NRA will be <br />confined to existing roads and access routes designated in this permit. <br />Off-road travel is prohibited. <br />22. The permittee shall take all reasonable precautions to protect and <br />preserve historic, prehistoric, or other cultural artifacts and paleontological <br />remains encountered during operations. Should such artifacts be discovered, <br />the permittee shall immediately suspend work in the area where the artifacts <br />are located and notify the Superintendent. The Superintendent will have the <br />discoveries evaluated, and determine within 10 working days the action to <br />betaken. The cost of any salvage work will be borne by the permittee. All <br />objects of antiquity salvaged from the lands are the property of the U.S. <br />Government and will be turned over to the Superintendent. <br />23. The southern rimrock barrier along U.S. Highway 50 will be preserved <br />in its present condition. This is intended to maintain the visual aesthetics <br />of the drive east along the highway. <br />24. The permittee/operator will be required to cease operations during the <br />severe winter months, as deemed by the Colorado Division of wildlife, to <br />allow for utilization of the area as winter range for deer and elk. <br />25. All waste, including pte-existing dumps, will he disposed of at an <br />approved location outside the NRA. Waste includes trash, sanitary wastes, <br />and all debris from operations. No burning of wastes is permitted. The <br />burial of wastes inside the NRA is strictly prohibited unless approved in <br />writing by the Superintendent. <br />26. Chemical toilets, or other self-contained sanitation facilities, shall <br />be required. No pi[ toilets are permitted. <br />
