containers clearly tagged showing the name and address of the supplier, the <br />net weight of each species of seed in the mix, and both the percentage of weed <br />seed content and the guaranteed percentage of purity and germination for each <br />species furnished. The CONTRACTOR shall give the tags to the PROJECT <br />MANAGER. The CONTRACTOR shall provide a signed statement certifying that the <br />seed furnished is from a lot that has been tested by a recognized laboratory <br />for seed testing within 9 months prior to the date of delivery to the job site. <br />Legume seed shall be inoculated with the correct viable inoculant for the <br />species. Outdated inoculants will not be accepted. Inoculation of legumes <br />shall be done within 48 hours before seeding. <br />Fertilizers <br />Fertilizers shall be of commercial grade and free flowing, suitable for <br />application with hydraulic or pneumatic type equipment or fertilizer <br />spreaders, and conforming to applicable Colorado state fertilizer laws. Caked <br />or lumpy fertilizer will not be accepted. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish a <br />supplier's certificate of analysis and weight. All fertilizer shall be in a <br />form readily available to plants. <br />Mulch <br />Mulch shall consist of native grass, hay, or straw mulch, and be pest-free or <br />weed free to the greatest extent possible. Approximately 30 percent by weight <br />of the mulch material shall be ten inches (10") in length or longer. Rotted, <br />caked, decayed or moldy material will not be accepted. <br />EXECUTION <br />The CONTRACTOR shall give the PROJECT MANAGER at least two (2) days notice of <br />the time and place of starting his revegetation operations and shall continue <br />to advise as to the schedule of operations. Revegetation may take place at <br />the completion of the work at an individual site if the CONTRACTOR so desires. <br />Immediately prior to seedbed preparation, fertilizer shall be uniformly <br />applied over the areas designated for seeding, and immediately incorporated <br />into the soil by tillage methods as discussed below. <br />Commercial Fertilizer Commercial fertilizer shall be commercial grade <br />diammonium phosphate (18-46-0) and free flowing, suitable for application with <br />hydraulic or pneumatic type equipment or fertilizer spreaders and conforming <br />to applicable Colorado State Fertilizer laws. Caked or lumpy fertilizer will <br />not be accepted. The CONTRACTOR shall furnish a supplier's certificate of <br />analysis and weight. All fertilizer shall be in a form readily available to <br />plants. Commercial fertilizer shall be applied at a rate of 200 pounds per <br />acre. <br />Seedbed Preparation The seedbed shall be firm. Trash, weeds, and other <br />debris that will interfere with seeding operations shall be removed or <br />disposed of as approved by the PROJECT MANAGER. Areas that are rilled or <br />gullied shall be smoothed to the extent that the rills and gullies blend with <br />adjoining surfaces. <br />-g- <br />
