On sites where equipment can operate, the seedbed shall be adequately loosened
(4 to 6 inches deep) and smoothed. Chiseling, discing, harrowing, or
cultipacking may be required. Work shall be done on the contour where
practicable. Slopes too steep for the above operations shall be tracked up
and down slope with a crawler tractor.
On sites where equipment cannot operate, the seedbed shall be hand raked or
otherwise prepared by hand by scarifying to a minimum depth of one (1) inch to
provide a roughened surface so that seed will stay in place.
Seedbed preparation shall be suspended when soil moisture conditions are not
suitable for the preparation of a satisfactory seedbed as determined by the
PROJECT MANAGER.
Seed Mixtures The CONTRACTOR shall be required to supply the seed. The seed
mixture designated below shall be uniformly sown over the areas to be
vegetated at the minimum rates per acre indicated below. Seeding shall not be
done if the ground is frozen. All rates are for drill seeding; therefore, the
rates for broadcast seeding are double the drilled rate.
~ecies, Variety
Pubescent Wheatgrass, Luna
Green Needlegrass
Western Wheatgrass, Arriba
Blue grama, Covington
Sideoats grama, Vaughn
Indian ricegrass, Paloma
Smooth brome, Lincoln
Cicer milkvetch, Monarch
Alfalfa, Ladak
Palmer penstemon
LBS/Acre
Latin Name PLS
Agropyron trichophorum 1. 5
Stipa viridula 1. 0
Agropyron smithii 2. 5
Bouteloua gracilis 0. 5
Bouteloua curtipendula 1. 5
Oryzopsis hymenoides 1. 0
Bromus inermis 1. 0
Astragalus titer 0. 5
Medicago sativa 0. 5
Penstemon Palmeri 0. 1
TOTAL 10.1
The computations for quantity of
percentage of purity and percent
compensate for the percentage of
furnishing and applying sufficiei
requirement.
