• <br /> • of the Deserado Mine) , a Refuse Sub Area #4 Study under <br /> contract by WFU at the Desef*do Mine , in 1986 and an <br /> `sa <br /> associated pipeline survey, all failed to locate a ferret <br /> or ferret sign (Marian 1985a, Mariah 1986b and 1986c ) . <br /> Bio/West , Inc , conducted a large ferret survey covering <br /> a Western Area Power Authority transmission line corridor <br /> from the Bonanza Power Plant at Bonanza,Utah to <br /> Hayden, Colorado and will pass within 2 miles to the north of <br /> Refuse Sub Area #4 (Bio/West 1987-88) . This study also <br /> failed to find ferrets . <br /> 3 . 2 NOCTURNAL SEARCHES <br /> Mr .Tim Chervick, Environmental Coordinator and WFU <br /> • wildlife biologist who has participated in several past <br /> spotlight searches and completed the USFWS ' training <br /> workshop, was the field supervisor for this project . He <br /> was assisted by Mr . Bruce Johnson, a summer temporary. <br /> engineering student with the University of North Dakota <br /> School of Mines . <br /> A total of approximately 27 . 68 team hours (55 .4 man <br /> hours) were expended in the search of the prairie dog <br /> towns to be affected by or within one half mile of Refuse <br /> Sub Area #4 . An additional 2 . 0 team hours (4 man hours) <br /> were spent morning searching the approximate 150 acre <br /> total area within these towns for recent ferret sign . <br /> Field data forms with relevant information for the <br /> • nocturnal and morning searches have been included in this <br /> report as Appendix A. <br />
