<br /> <br />HAZARD COMMUNICATION PROGRAM <br />General Company Policy <br />The purpose of this notice is to inform you [hat our company is complying with the OSHA <br />Hazard Communication Standard Title 29 CFR 1910. 1200, by compiling a hazardous chemical <br />list, by using MSDS's, by ensuring that containers are labeled, and by providing you with <br />training. <br />This program applies to all work operations in our company where you may be exposed to <br />hazardous substances under normal working conditions or during an emergency situation. <br />The Safety Department is the program coordinator and has overall responsibility for the <br />program. The Safety Department will review and update the program as necessary. Copies of <br />the written program may be obtained from the Safety Department or your supervisor. <br />Under this program, you will be informed of the contents of the Hazard Communication <br />Standard, the hazardous properties of chemicals with which you work, safe handling procedures, <br />and measures to take to protect, yourself from these chemicals. You will also be informed of the <br />hazards associated with non-routine tasks, and the hazards associated with chemicals in <br />unlabeled pipes. <br />List of Hazardous Chemicals <br />The Safety Department will make a list of all hazardous chemicals and related work <br />practices used at B&B Excavating and will update the list as necessary. Our list of chemicals <br />identifies all of the hazardous chemicals used in our work processes. A hazardous chemical is <br />any chemical that is a physical hazard or a health hazard. Each list also identifies [he <br />corresponding MSDS for each chemical. A master list of these chemicals will be maintained by, <br />and is located in the Safety Department on the second floor of the main office. The Safety <br />Department must clear all new procurements of hazardous chemicals for the company. <br />Material Safes Data Sheets (MSDS'sl <br />MSDS's provide you with specific information on the chemicals that you use. Supervisors with <br />the help of the Safety Department will maintain a binder with an MSDS on every substance on <br />the list of hazardous chemicals. The MSDS will be a fully completed OSHA form 174 or <br />equivalent. Your supervisor will ensure that each work site maintains an MSDS for the <br />hazardous materials in that area. MSDS's will be made readily available to you during your work <br />shifts. <br />
