`~ Mr, Deart Massey .
Colorado Mined Land lamation Division
June 3, 1980
Page 2
Area 3
Area 3 consists of the remnants of an old scoria stockpile that is no
longer used. The total disturbance a[ [his site [h a[ drains south into an
unprotected drainage is 0.8 acres, or 0.1% of the 733 acre drainage it sits at
[he head of. During 1980, this area will be smoothed, re[opsoiled and seeded,
Area 4
This area consists of the main access road to the mine from highway 13. A
total of 19.1 acres of disturbance are involved in the road surface, shouders,
ditch, and cuts and Eills. This amounts to I.0% of the 1,858 acre drainage it
is in. Drainage from 1,236 acres of the total 1,858 acres is treated before
leaving [he permit area by passing through a series of sediment dams. The road
surface is asphalt and therefore does not contribute sediment to runoff, The
ditches, cuts and fills were seeded to perennial grasses in 1978 and have estab-
lished vegetation on them.
Area 5
The fifth area is a 1.0 acre disturbance that consists of two electrical
substations and a short access road to the substation. This disturbance amounts
[0 0,05% of the 2,120 acre drainage it is in and is surrounded by natural vege-
Cation. RunuEf from about one-half of the total drainage (1,062 acres) ie
treated by passing through a series of sediment dams before leaving the pro-
perty. The road is normally used about l2 times/month by a light duty vehicle.
Occasionally a larger piece of equipment may use the road if the substation
needs maintenance.
Sincerely,yy~~ {{''
~cZ~iX~ li,/OZL~r2~
Wayne E.
