Dave Shelton Page 2 August 24, 1982 4) It continues to be Northern Coal Company's intent to pursue the acquisition of a modified mine plan approval, under the permanent program, for the Northern No. 1 Mine, Rienau No. 2 Mine and Wilson-Loudy Loadout. In order to facilitate your review the following information is organized in the format prescribed by Rule 4.30.1. 4.30.1(1) - The environmental integrity of all surface areas will be maintained according to the terms of the permits and applicable perfor- mance standards. Northern Ido. 1 A?ine - At this point in time, Northern Coa Company intends to temporarily seal the Iorthern No. 1 Mine's portals in accordance with Rules 4.07.1 and 4.07.2. Rienau No. 2 Mine - Thru the temporary cessa- tion o the Rienau No. 2 Mine, a crew will remain to•maintain the portals in a service- able condition as well as continuing ventila- tion and intermittent mine water pumping.. Refuse Area - The refuse area (Phase I) will be maintained in strict compliance with the terms and design criteria of the approved per- mit and applicable performance standards thru the temporary cessation of the mines. Wilson-Loudx Loadout - Northern Coal Company is continuing to utilize the Loadout in ful- filling a coal contract. When this contract has been fulfilled, the facilities remaining will be maintained and monitored according to . the terms of the permit and applicable perfor- mance standards. E ui ment, Su lies, Bathhouses Trailer Offices Northern Coa Company wi continue to shi t men, equipment, and supplies between the mines as needed. Trailers and bathhouses will be utilized as needed by the support personnel. 4.30.1(2) (a) - The total amount of surface area (Rienau ~~2 - 8.6 acres, Northern ~`1 - 12.6, Refuse Area - 4.4, and Wilson Loadout - 30.4 acres) will not increase over the term of the temporary cessation of either mine or support facilities. The horizontal and verti- cal extent of the underground worlrs of each mine are depicted on the attached maps Exhibits B & C.
