k~
i ^ ^,~~u~,,«~.
Second, the rather high slopes on either side of Academy Boulevar~lN-
• will be totally or partially removed This will aid in the maintenance
of the highway as well as provide better access and visibility of any
future industrial developments on this or adjacent sites. In some areas
on the east side of Academy a large powerline somewhat limits the extent 7 2
to which the slope can be lowered, but the slope will at least be
reduced in half.
~~.
~ Third, the plan allows for a close following of mining by \ Jv „n.~
reclamation once about 30 to 40 acres have been opened on the east side 1 ~v~"
of Academy. This will help to reduce the band cost exposure of the
operation as well as provide for a more rapid change from mining to
whatever final land use is applied to the area.
_~~--
Another feature that is somewhat problematic at this time is the
irrigation ditch that more or less splits the area on the east into a
• north and south section. If the ditch is not eventually moved or
possibly eliminated in the far distant future, then it will have to be
piped across the cut separating Phases Ie and IIe. Also the ditch will
cause a ridge to remain which will separate phases IIe and IVe. Because
bath of these situations will not have to be dealt with for at least
20 years, it is hoped that by then alternatives can be found as it would
further improve the situation in those areas and make the land even more
useful for building.
The computer generated cross-sections provided at the end of this
exhibit are helpful in visualizing the slopes and gradients of the pit
sides and the overall changes that will occur relative to the existing
surface configuration. The reclamation plan map (Exhibit F) was
derived from these sections, therefore there is a close correspondence
• between the sectional views and the vertical views shown on the maps.
FAGE 2 OF 14 - EXHIBIT E
