~ ~ ..
XVIII. Coal Processin Waste and Non-Coal Processing Waste -
u es f an
Information pertaining to processing wastes is presented in Section 2.05
(pages 2.05-24) of the permit application.
La Plata Coal Corporation does not propose any coal processing other than
screening and crushing, therefore, no coal processing waste should be produced.
La Plata Coal Corporation states that no underground development waste will be
deposited on the surface, therefore, the requirements of this section are not
applicable. The Division specifically disallows deposition of any underground
development waste on the surface during this permit term.
Any generated non-coal waste will be disposed of in a trash dumpster, which
will be taken to the La Plata County landfill.
The applicant is in compliance with the requirements of this section.
XIX. Mine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, Support Facilities; Roads; and
Ponds, Impoundments, and Diversions - Rules 2.05.3(3), 2.05.3(41,
an
A. Mine Facilities, Coal Handling Structures, and Support Facilities
The surface mine facilities that will be used to support the underground
mining operations will consist of an office trailer, bath-house, shop in an
underground portal (which has been sealed), powder magazine, fuel storage
area, mine exhaust fan, guard trailer, overland conveyor system, coal crusher
area, four coal storage bins, weight scale, and two leach fields. These
facilities are depicted on Map 11- Mine Facilities and discussed in Section
2.05 (pages 2.05-17 to -19 and 2.05-24 to -25) of the permit application.
B. Roads
Information pertaining to roads is presented in Section 2,05 (pages 2.05-19
to -20) of the permit application.
Originally, there were two access roads connecting the upper portal bench area
with La Plata County Road 120. During recent clean-up activities by La Plata
Coal Corporation, the west access road was decommissioned. Therefore, access
to the upper bench area can only be obtained utilizing the existing access
road. This road has been in existence for some time considering mining
commenced at this site around 1905. La Plata Coal Corporation has only
upgraded this road by installing drainage ditches, grading the road, and
surfacing the road with gravel. The location of this road is portrayed on
Map 11 - Mine Facilities.
There are no haul roads on site since coal haulage trucks will enter the
facilities area directly from La Plata County Road 120 where the weight scale
is located adjacent to the office trailer. The trucks will then proceed to
the storage bin area for loading and return to the weight scale area prior to
leaving the area.
_27_
