Dave Berry
December 9, 1997
Page 5
36. Provide surveyed location of Bear C-Seam portal and Edwards B-Seam
portal.
37. Provide location and elevation of the base of the reclaim structure and the
sump under the surge or reclaim coal pile.
38. Describe timing, quantity and chemical composition of water pumped from
the sump under the reclaim tunnel.
39. When and where was the current slide movement first noticed? How has
the slide changed over time? Do you have notes or photographs that can
be shared with us?
40. When and why did the slump occur that exposed the outflow from the
Edwards portal? What are the weathered concrete and steel materials
associated with?
41. Provide location, elevation and data from any slope stability movements in
the vicinity of the Bear Mine facility.
42. Please provide copies of any aerial photographs or photogrametric maps
taken andlor constructed in the last 4 years.
43. When was the reclamation of the coal reclaim conveyor and ventilation
tunnel started and completed? Where did the material come from to backfill
the reclaim and ventilation tunnels? How was this water handled when
reclaiming the reclaim tunnel and vent? How were these inflows sealed at
reclamation?
44. When was water first observed in the reclaim and vent tunnels? How has
this water been handled? Please provide historic flows, field parameters
and chemistry.
45. Please provide an accurate (surveyed) map of all of the Bear No. 3 Mine
portals, main entries, and outby facilities (stack tube, reclaim tunnel, reclaim
vent, etc.), along with the Edwards portals, main entries and outby facilities
including elevations and coordinates.
46. Please provide a detailed plan view and cross-section(s) of the reclamation
plan, along with surface ownership.
47. Has there ever been or is there a clear water diversion ditch or drainage or
sediment control ditch in the vicinity of the slide? If so, has there been any
water flow observed? If so, what measurements or chemistry are available?
