• 8. In the last sentence at the bottom of page 2.04-39e, it states that the "monitoring data for these
drainages are presented on pages 2.04-39g and 39h. " Should these be page 39f and 39g?
Response: Given the changes in page numbering sequence as discussed in Response 4, the
page reference for the drainage monitoring data has been changed to pages 2.04-39o and
39p. Please see accompanying revisions.
In the last paragraph it states that "during the monitoring period, no measurable flow was
detected." Were these ephermal drainages monitored during the precipitation events? It is our
understanding that Tom Anderson did monitor these drainages during a significant event.
Therefore, a statement to this effect should be added.
Responses: The drainages were monitored during a major precipitation event on 2/20 and
2/21/96 (indicated as a 25-year, 24-hour storm by West Elk Environmental Staff) and it was
raining during several of the site monitoring visits as documented by the accompanying
field notes (Attachment A to this transmittal) for the specified dates. The permit text has
been revised to add a statement documenting the validity of monitoring for the small
ephemeral drainages. Please see accompanying revisions.
2.04.7(3) Alternative Water Supply Information
10. On your page 204-536, it states "the water rights are both for 0.90 cfs. " It is our understanding
that there are two water rights each for 0.90 cfs., for a total of 1.80 cfs. Please clarify the amount
• of each or both of the water rights.
Response: The discussion of water rights has been revised to provide the noted
clarification. Please see accompanying revisions.
11. The chart on the evaporative loss from ponds does not include the new Pond C Please add this
figure and change any other figures that may be affected. Also, refer to number 14 below.
Response: Both the chart on pond evaporative loss and the consumptive water use estimate
have been revised to include evaporative losses from Pond C. Please see accompanying
revisions.
2.04.9 Soil-Resource Information
12. Please indicate where pages 2.04-68 b, c, and d"may be located.
Response: The noted pages correspond to original pages 2.04-68i, 68ii, and 68iii (Figures
A8-1388, C8-1225, and C8-1226) in the permit document which have been revised
consistent with the permit page revision designation convention described in Response 4
above. In addition, Map 3212 has been revised and expanded to include soil sample
locations for the Sanborn Creek, Elk Creek, and West Valley areas. Please see
accompanying revisions.
13. On the chart for the "West [/alley Composite Soil Samples,"please indicate the units of measure
• fora!! ojthe test data.
Response: The chart showing analysis results for the West Valley composite soil samples
has been revised to include units for all analysis parameters as noted.
