Bowie Resources Limited -Bowie No. 1 Mine <br />Rationale for TR 34 <br />Page 4 <br />Shallow Monitoring Well SM-6, which does not lie within the angle of draw of any <br />underground workings but is near the II West Submains in the West Mine, measures the <br />ground water contained within the shallow colluvial material. <br />Shallow Monitoring Well SM-7, which lies within [he angle of draw of I Panel off II <br />West Submains in [he West Mine, measures the ground water contained within the <br />shallow colluvial material. <br />Factor No. 2 -Deteriorated Monitoring Wells <br />Monitoring of the following points will be discontinued due to the deterioration of these <br />monitoring wells. <br />Ground Water Monitoring Points -Wells <br />DH-60, which is located within the angle of draw of H Panel off the II West Submains <br />has collapsed and is no longer able to provide any depth or quality information. <br />DH-65, which is located within the angle of draw of 3rd Eas[ off Y Panel has collapsed <br />and is no longer able to provide any depth or quality information. <br />Borehole B-3, which is located on the Crushing and Screening Level at the East Mine has <br />collapsed and is no longer able to provide any depth or quality information. <br />Factor No. 3 -Remote Locations <br />The following monitoring points will be dropped from [he monitoring plan due to their distance <br />from the potential effects of past mining. <br />Surface Water Monitoring Points -Ponds <br />Pond 3-6, which is located 2,400 feet from the nearest underground excavation on <br />Federally owned surface lands, was found to be approximately 250' x 150' in 1983, is fed <br />by runoff and seepage from a colluviaValluvial association, and is used as stockwater. <br />Pond 10-5, which is located 2,400 feet from the nearest underground excavation on <br />Federally owned surface lands, was found to be approximately 250' x 300' in 1983, is fed <br />by runoff and seepage from a colluviaValluvial association, and is used as stockwa[er. <br />Pond 10-12, which is located 2,700 feet from the nearest underground excavation on <br />Federally owned surface lands, was found to be approximately 20' x 20' in 1983, is fed by <br />runoff and is used as stockwater. <br />
