PROPOSED METHOD OF OPERATION
Processing of the raw material
1. Overburden material will be stripped and stockpiled using a crawler type dozer
and/orearth-moving scraper.
2. Raw material will be stripped at a 2:1 V slope and stockpiled using a crawler type
dozer.
3. Front-end wheel loaders and various rock processing equipment will then process
the stockpiles of raw material.
4. The processed material will be stockpiled by stacking conveyor belts at which time it
will be ready for the customer.
5. The processed material will be moved off site by 10-20 yard trucks after being loaded
by a front-end wheel loader.
This will be the general method of mining through all phases of the permit.
Mining of the contract area will be in two phases. A map is included with this narration.
PHASE ONE A
• The removal of trees, growth medium and overburden will be done in phases, as
material is needed. This will help reduce total surface area affected while mining.
• Trees and shrubs will be removed and stockpiled.
• Growth medium will be stripped to a depth of a minimum of 6 inches, then stockpiled
along the length of the south and west boundary.
• Overburden will also be stripped and then stockpiled along the length of the south
and west boundary. Due to the excessive amount of overburden, some will be
stripped from the southeast corner and used to reclaim the southwest slope of the
current BLM permit. The southwestern boundary will be mined and maintained at a
3H: 1V slope. All other mining will be at a 2H: 1V slope until reaching the west
permit boundary; at that time mining will be at a 3H: 1 V slope. Excess overburden
not needed for slope reclamation will be stockpiled at the northwest corner of the
current BLM permit for future reclamation of the pit floor.
PHASE ONE B
The most northwest corner of PHASE ONE B will be daylighted into Sale Barn
Canyon creating a natural drainage and a more natural landscape. Topsoil and
overburden will be stockpiled along the length of the northeast side of PHASE ONE
B. The northeast side of PHASE ONE B will be mined at a 3H: 1V slope. No topsoil
or overburden will be stockpiled on the north end of PHASE ONE B in that it will be
mined through into proposed PHASE TWO. Prior to mining PHASE ONE B, the
south and west side slope of PHASE ONE A will be reclaimed 3H: 1 V and covered 8"
deep with overburden and 4" deep with growth medium. Stumps and boulders will
then be placed randomly onto the contoured slopes. The slope will be re-vegetated
with a BLM approved seed mix and to BLM's final approval.
Weed control will be ongoing as outlined in our current permit with BLM and Division
of Minerals and Geology.
