<br />MITIGATION <br /> <br />RECREATIOiv: The Sale Barn Canyon:piking/bike trail will be compromised near the <br />north end of PHASE ONE A. Working together with Trails 2000, it is proposed that the <br />trail be relocated across to the north rim of $ale Bam Canyon to avoid all of PHASE <br />ONE and proposed PHASE TWO. <br />WILDLIFE: There is currently no water source on the Grandview ridge mesa. Under the <br />direction of BLM, C 8 J Gravel wilt build or use existing ponds and supply water via <br />water truck to the ponds during the dry season or as needed. <br />WEED CONTROL: All growth medium and overburden stockpiles will be seeded with <br />approved BLM seed mix to help control dust. These same stockpiles will also be subject <br />to C & J gravel's weed control plan. Having been advised by Rod Cook, La Plata <br />County Weed Control manager, Custom Weed Spraying has been contracted to control <br />all disturbed areas in and around the mining operation on a biannual basis. If problem <br />areas persist, Custom Weed Spraying is used as needed to optimize weed control. <br />C&J's goal is to eradicate all noxious weeds from the mine. <br />FUGITIVE DUST CONTROL PLAN: All necessary control measures will be used as <br />outlined on page 5 of Construction Permit #99LP0697F as issued by Colorado <br />Department of Public Health and Environment, Air Pollution Control Division. <br />NOISE CON ~ nOL: Noise control is regulated by the Mine Safety and Health <br />Administration on an miner's level only. All test results are kept on file and will be made <br />available to BLM as needed. <br />HAZARDOUS MATERIAL: Any hazardous materials such as fuel and oils are located <br />within safety containment berms as outlined by Division of Minerals and Geology and <br />MSHA. All hazardous materials will be stored offsite of BLM permit areas. Any <br />accidental spills of hazardous material onto BLM land will be reported within one working <br />day and clean up will be under the direction of the BLM. <br />OPERATIONS SAFETY PLAN: C~J Gravel operates under the direction of and in <br />complete accordance of the Mine Safety and Health Administration. Specific regulations <br />are MSHA 30 CFR, Part 48, Subpart B-E and Part 56. <br />STORM WATER MANAGEMENT PLAN: This plan is on file with the Colorado <br />Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control Division and is <br />reviewed and updated annually. Any maintenance or corrective action is done as <br />needed and reported annually. <br />A small portion of a sediment pond is located on the BLM permit. This pond is a <br />result of gravel mining and was encouraged by the Division of Minerals and Geology to <br />be incorporated into the storm water management plan. The only part of the pond that <br />will hold watt, ;~ on private land, as shown in the southwest corner of the Montoya <br />property. This part of the pond will be maintained as needed for erosion control and <br />sediment removal. <br />
