Incorporate Revised Air Emissions Permits into Permit
Dear Town Manager:
The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph
4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on April 26, 1999, an application [o revise coal mining operations at the Bowie Mine
No. I wasconsideredcompleteforthepurposesoffiling. TherevisionwassubmittedbyBowieResourcesLimited. All review
and comment periods as provided in the Act and [he Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
The approval of this revision would incorporate revised air emissions permits (construction permits) into the Bowie No. I
permit for the train loadout and for the mine site itself. The revised air emissions pernits have increased the maximum
production limit at the train Ieadou[ from 1.7 million tons per year to 3.0 million tons per year. The air emissions permit
production limit at the mine site remains atone million tons per year. No new land will be disturbed. There will not be any
changes to the facilitiesor the hydrologicprotection system. There will be an increase in the water consumptiveuse at the train
loadout.
The undergrcundcoal mining operation is on land located approximately 3 miles north of Faonia, Colorado. The permit area
is further described as follows:
Portions of Sections I, 2. 3, 10• I5, 22-25, Township 13 South, Range 92 West of the 6th P.M.
Portions of Sections 5-8, 17-19.29-32, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M.
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie.
A copy of the technical revision application is available For public inspection at the Delta County Courthouse, 5th & Palmer,
Della, CO 81416, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written comments, contact the Division
of Minerals and Geology, Room ? I5, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, [phone]. In order for us to
comply with regulatorytime frames, vve request that comments be submitted within fifteen (I S) days of this letter. However,
comments may be recieved at the Division within thirty (30) days of the publication of the public notice of the completeness
for this Technical Revision. If no comments are received by then, we will proceed on the assump[ien [ha[ you have no concerns
with, or objections to, the applicant's proposal.
