Mr. Dan Matbew.r
Division ofMineratr and Geo%gy
Page 2
Soil Group for reclaimed arear would be `C"' ar appored to `NA': Please update a/I Hydrologic
Input Parameters tab/es accordingly.
Response: The Hydrologic Input Parameter tables have been revised to include necessary Curve
Number, hydrologic soil group and vegetation cover condition documentation for each
subwatershed. Watersheds classified as roads do not have vegetation cover or hydrologic soil group
input paameters. Therefore, "NA" is applicable in select instances. Please note that SCC used
hydrologic soil group value `B", not "C" as suggested in the Division's comment. As noted in SCC
response of Octobet 21, 2004, to Item 24 of the Division's adequary comments for TR-45, soils
typically found in the north mining block were silt loam and loam soils. Haan, et al., in the text
Design Hydrology and Sedimentohgy for Small Catchments (C.T. Haan, B.J. Barfield and J.C. Hayes,
Academic Press, San Diego, 1994) suggest that silt loam and loam soils display characteristics of the
HSG type B. The Hydrologic Input Parameter tables (as well as the SEDCAD demonstrations) have
been revised to reflect the approved curve number for reclaimed conditions. Please see Table 13-1
for the approved curve numbers and assodated hydrologic inputs for reclaimed conditions. The
revised information is included in this response package.
d Several errors were noted on Table 13.6-2, Ridgekne Acterr Road Ditch Summary ar follows:
Velocity bared on maximum dope for Channe10+00-7+SO rhould be 4.8
Third channel segment krted rhould read 15+50-29+00.
Slope for channel segment 29+00-33+25 rhould read 0.5-2.0. Vekcity it given far minimum rkpe
and rhould be bared on maximum rope.
Veladty bared on maximum dope for Channel83+00-94+35 rhould be 3.4.
Slope for channel segment 110+85-117+00 rhould nod 4,O~i.0. Velocty i.rgiven for minimum dope
and rhould be bared on maximum dope.
Please amend the table to rorrect the errors.
Response: Table 13-6-2 has been corrected and is included in this response package.
e. The Road Ditch SEDCAD demonstration for segment 15+SO-29+00 hat an erroneous page
indicating station 1 S+SO-38+00. Please correct this discrepancy.
Response: The SEDCAD demonstration for segment 15+50 to 29+00 has been corrected. An
updated SEDCAD demonstration for the ridgeline road has been included with this response
package.
f. Then an many inconrirtencier with new and revdred culvert information submitted with this application.
Please amend the various Exhibits, Tables, and SEDCAD demonstration
Attachments cited below, as appropriate.
Exhibit 13-26.1 shows Culvert A5 (plan view and culvert schedule) and the new SEDCAD
demonstration in Attachment 13-7 indicates that this rhould be Culvert SA.
Response: The SEDCAD label for culvert AS has been corrected.
