Mr. Dan Mathews
Division ofMineralr and Geology
Page 3
PM-3 and PM-7 are the only culverts for which rtrudute detail war incorporated into Attachment 13-
6, Ditch Cakulatianr. Culverts PM-0, PM-2, PM-5, PMT and AS were not inrorporated into
Attachment 13-6, Ditch Calculations. The structure detail jor all culvem will need to be included,
unless a satisfactory explanation it provided
Response: All culvert calculations and demonstrations have been included in Attachment 13-7.
Revisions to Attachment 13-7 aze included in this response package.
There it no revised SEDCAD demonstration for Culvert PM-2 and the dedgn fhw given in the
Culvert Schedule (Exhibit 13-26.1) doer not match the design discharge given In the existing
SEDC'AD demomtratiore for PM-2 ire Attachment 13-7 of the PAP The SEDC.AD
demonstration and Table 13-7-1 indicate a 12-inch diameter culvert, whereas the Culver Schedule on
Exhibit 13-26.1 shows a 10-inch diameter design.
Response: The SEDCAD demonstration for PM-2 has not been revised. The existing approved
design specifies a 10-inch diameter culvert. Exhibit 13-26.1 (sheet 1) and Table 13-7-1 have been
revised to show the collect design parameters.
The insertion instructions do not indicate a new culvert calculation for PM-7; however, PM-7 u shown
on Exhibit 13-26.1 and a hydraulic design is inserted in Attachment 13-6, Ditch Calculations. PM-
7 should be included in the Attachment 13-7, Culvert Calculations and included in Table 13-7-1.
Response: The design for PM-7 has been included in Attachment 13-land the design parameters
added to Table 13-7-1.
The design flaw for Culver! PM-3 in the Culvert Schedule far Exhibit 13-26.1 doer rat match the
design fhwgiven s'n the SEDCAD demonstrations or Tabk 13-7-1,
Response: The culvert schedule has been revised so that the design flow for culvert PM-3 is correct
The SEDCAD demonstrations far the culvert calculations chow a maximum headwater of 2.00 ft ar
measured fivm the bottom of the inky of the pipe. The Culvert Scheduler on Exhibit >3-26.1 Sheets 1
and 2 rbaw a minimum head of 2h Thir doer not appear to be rnrrecl. Pkare revise the Culvert
Schedules to indicate `Maximum Head':
Response: The culvert schedule has been revised to indicate that there will be a maxunum head of 2
feet. The culvert design is shown on the SEDCAD demonstrations in Attachment 13-7.
g. Please ensure that data transcription it accurate and consistent between the SEDCAD demonstrations,
Tabk 13-6-2 and 13-7-1, and the roadside ditch and ttrlvert scheduler given on Exhibit 13-26.1
Sheets J and 2.
Response: All calculations, tables, culvert schedules, attachments and exhibits have been checked to
assure that the information is consistent and correct Calculations have been revised to reflect that
an approved curve number value was used for reclaimed conditions (CN=70) as shown on Table 13-
1.
h The Typical Portmine Access Road Cross-Sections (Exhibit 13-26.1) show a minimum ditch depth of
2.0 feet and the culvert crrlculatiara show a maximum headwater of 2.0 ft.
