The attached Non-technical
description sheet lists the two soils. A majority of the pit sits on the Stapleton sandy
loam. As you move further east and north from the existing pit the soil that is identified
on the site is the Ascalon sandy loam. The ecological site descriptions also list
information that describes the soil parent material depth, salt issues that may arise,
available water capacity and other information describing the soils.
Ecological Sites:
There are two ecological sites identified on this parcel. The Gravel Breaks site which
corresponds to the Stapleton Sandy loam and a sandy site that corresponds to the
Ascalon sandy loam. Both sites have similar vegetation and have been used historically
for grazing animals. The post mined land use will remain as grazing land.
Vegetation:
The vegetation on the site is similar in amount and composition. Vegetation will be
broken into grasses fortis ands shrubs for identification purposes. I did not clip the site
to determine amounts of forage but before livestock are restocked on the parcel it would
be wise to determine the numbers of livestock that could be carried on the site.
The Natural Resources Conservation Service provides leadership in a partnership effort to help people
conserve, maintain, and improve our natural resources and environment.
