If you need additional
information on the species present, I will need to schedule a time in June of this year to
make an additional trip to the site to determine other species that may be on the site.
Climate:
The climate information for this site is not specific and can be found on the Ecological
site descriptions that are attached for the two sites. The information is general in nature
but fits the site. The precipitation information, growing season, and weather extremes
are accurate enough to detail what can be expected for this area. Some modification of
the weather described for this site is expected since the pit is on a south facing slope.
Site revegetation will be completed when the pit is mined out. I have included a
reference guide to detail what I feel are the best species to put back on this site once
mining has been completed. You indicated that you would like to put the site back with
native species. (See attached information). If the site is seeded with a grass drill the
amounts spelled out on the CO-ECS=5 form will work. If you decide to broadcast the
seed the amounts listed for seeding rates will have to be doubled. When purchasing
grass seed, always specify (PLS) Pure Live Seed.
If there are any questions or you need additional
c ntact e.
John Valentine
District Conservationist
Colorado Springs, Colorado
information that I can provide please
