.-~.s^
f previously mined areas
and rocks onto public
visable dust into the
thus far.
are reclaimed. Heavy rains are washing soil
roads, and winds are carrying large amounts of
area because of the minimal reclamation efforts
MINIMAL FIINDING OF RECLAMATION PLANS
Although Castle Concrete left out the anticipated expense for reclaiming
the permitted area, they told our group that they planned to spend
only $20,000 for the entire 8.36 acre expansion. We feel this is
minimal considering the cost of reclamation of other quarries in the
area. We do not consider the 4 inches of top soil or approximately
28 pounds of grass seed adequate for this kind of a project.
Because the funding information was left out of the public document
we question what other information is not available to the public.
LEND IISE ISSIIES
Although we understand the board does not have jurisdiction on land
use issues, there is no other entity dealing with the problems of
increased air and noise pollution, public safety from truck activity,
or visable scarring which affects the local tourist economy. Both
Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs have passed resolutions opposing
this amendment. The county commissioners have lost the right to
control these issues because of an earlier court case. We urge you
to consider these matters in reviewing this amendment.
We thank you for your consideration in this matter.
Cordially,
KeF~i QuinK Schmitt
President
Concerned Citizens for Williams
Canyon
