Mining, or at leaat operations within the pit, will be active
for the majority of the year. Any waste materials will be
for the majority of the year. Any waste materials will be
used to build up low areas to provide pads for stockpiles and
possible use as building sites, should the area ever be de-
veloped. No areas within the proposed pit limits can be
conaidered to be wetlands, and, therefore, nc wetlands will
be disturbed.
[t is estimated that actual disturbance of any area due to
mining operations will be limited to no more than 31.1 acres
of active excavation and a total of no more than 30 acres of
active disturbance for the plant site, stockpSle area, and
roads. This amendment is to permit the total possible ag-
gregate area to allow flexibility in both present and future
operations. In the future, the applicant hopes to develop
augmentation plans which will allow a larger area of extrac-
tion. For the present, we are limited by what we anticipate
cur current augmentation plan before the Water Court will al-
low. When mining is complete, the roads will be reduced in
size to not wider than 20 feet, which will be large enough to
provide permanent access to the land.
Mining at the site will probably continue for at least thirty
years.
This amendment removes the 76.31 acre batch plant site from
the permit acreage since the plant now utilizes materials
from several other sources besides this pit. It is passible,
and indeed probable, that at some period in the future the
plant will remain in operation after thia pit is depleted or
use ceases. Therefore, the applicant no longer feele that
inclusion of the plant site within the pit boundaries is
applicable or appropriate. It is also posaible that an aa-
phalt hot mix plant could be moved into this plant site from
time-to-time. Asphalt could, and probably would, be imported
from different sources in the area as mentioned above.
