Approximately 5.8
million cubic yards of additional material were hauled from the overburden st«kpile and placed as
bac}dill in the 720 Pit. Dozen mere used to rip and fill an additional 1.1 million cubic yards of
material to complete final grading of Pit 1. As pan of the negotiated Phase I partial bond release
settlement agreement, Kerr agreed [o place approxima[ely 420,000 cubic yards of additional fill in the
southeastern portion of the Pit 1 area to establish a small ridgeline feature. Final reclarnation of the
720 Pit and Pit 1, overburden st«kpile area, and associated disturbance areas was completed with
permanent revegetation seeding of these areas in 1995-1996.
The separate coal loadout facility, which served the mine during active operations, was idled when the
rtrirte shut down in 1993 and remained idle while Kerr explored alternative uses Eor the loadout area
and ass«iated facilities. When reasonable options for alternative uses were exhausted, Kerr
completed reclamation of loadout area in 1999 with facility removal, bacldilling and grading, soil
material replacement, and permanent revegetation seeding.
till reclamation activities have been completed in full compliance with the approved recLlmation plan,
as outlined in Appendix A, and d«tunenred by copies of DMG inspection reports, included in
Appendix B.
Based on the 1999 Mart Mme Annual Reclamation Repon, submitted to the DMG and included as
Appendix C for reference, Maps 1 and 2, and Table 1, Marc Mme - Summary of Ctrtrent Reclanation
Status, an additional 6.5 acres in the Mine Area and 6.9 acres in the separate Loadout Area were
reclaimed and reseeded in 1999. The Mme Area reclamation was seeded with an annual mulch crop
while the Loadout Area reclamation was seeded with the permanent revegetation mirmrre.
TABLE 1
MARR MINE -SUMMARY OF CURRENT RECLAMATION STATUS
Mine Area
Reclaimed and Reve etated 1999 6.5
Facilities, Roads and Sediment
INot reclaimed) Controls 34.6
To soil Stock files INot reclaimed) 3.3
Reclaimed re-1999 345.3
TOTAL 389.7
Loadout Area
Reclaimed and Reve etated 1999 6.9
Facilities, Roads and Sediment
INot reclaimed) Control 4.8
TOTAL 11.7
As indicated by Table 1, remain;ng mine disturbance areas that have not been reclaimed include a
total of 42.7 acres summarized as follows:
Mme Area
34.6 acres -Facilities, roads, and drainage and sediment control structures
3.3 acres -Topsoil st«kpile areas
Loadout Area
4.8 acres -Facilities, roads, and drainage and sediment control stnrctures
Kerr has received DMG approval to retain the mine shop/office/warehouse and ass«iated yard area,
mine access road, Sedimentation Ponds A, B, D, and E, the two water supply wells (one at the mine
Moagmuy Wesson "P.D Bac 7740185remlAU Spry, 0080477 "(970f 8796160
¢ vacs rimn n.,m and rs...~
r~.w,w
