5. In Phase I of the amendment the pit walls will be
excavated vertically. Phases II-V will most likely be
excavated in strips. In both areas backfilling will occur
after mining is completed to achieve approximately a 3:1
slope.
6. The present linear highwall is about 1040 feet. Once
Phase I of the present amendment is completed the linear
highwall footage will be reduced and in Phases II-V would
not exceed 900 feet. The current active pit is
approximately 1.7 acres.
7. The present manner of reclamation has been to backfill and
grade the mined out areas with salvaged overburden.
Sloping has been to approximately a 3:1 contour. Once the
mined areas have been re topsoil has been spread to
a depth of at least`~~ssix inches d the area reseeded. The
area has been regraded'ta tilend in with the adjacent
topography.
8. The permit boundary has been extended to include the
crusher and stockpile area southeast of Phase II. The
permit fee has also been included to cover this area.
9. Bluetop Paving occupied the area southeast of Phase II
which is designated as the crusher and stockpile area.
The area remains a relatively flat gravelled site with a
low berm along the south side. The site will require
little effort to put it into use in the future.
lO.Any asphalt plant location will be on compacted gravels
and be bermed as necessary to insure that a spill would
not leave the site. Any cleanup required would be
accomplished by using the dozers and loaders on site for
pickup and burial of the spilled material.
11.Within the area of major disturbance the following are
included: topsoil stockpiles, overburden (spoil)
stockpile, and the pit area. Within the area of moderate
disturbance the following are included: both areas shown
as crusher and stockpile locations, the access road to the
operation, and the area shown as mined and backfilled. The
area of minor disturbance includes that area which has
been backfilled, graded, topsoiled and seeded. Review of
