(Approximately, 8'D x 10'W x 40'L in size)
The mud pits will be located in the "cut" portion of the pad for pad stability. Any excess
mud fluids to be removed will be disposed of off forest.
Pad preparation will involve the use of a tracked dozer or backhoe to establish a level
drill site. If topsoil exists, up to 12" will be salvaged and stored in a stockpile(s) located
along the side of the pad and marked with a "topsoil" sign. Soil stripping will not occur
in areas that have been previously disturbed and where little or no soil material remains,
typically in areas of 30% or greater slopes. Large trees maybe segregated but generally,
shrubs and other woody materials will be incorporated into the topsoil.
No surface blasting is anticipated.
Boreholes #1, 3,5,6 and 8 above will be angle drilled. In addition, these three boreholes
will be angle drilled. Exhibit #1 - Typical Angle Drilled Borehole -Gob Vent Boreholes
is attached for your information.
Each borehole will be drilled 8 1/4 inch diameter to approximately 20 feet above the coal.
7 inch steel casing will be installed to about 50 feet above the coal.
