October 2004 -20- 043-2170
• The SF Atterberg limits testing frequency (approximately one test per 20,842 cubic yazds) exceeded
the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per 50,000 cubic yards. The plasticity index of
the SF varied from 10 to 13 and met project specifications. Atterberg limits test results for SF aze
presented in Appendix I-1 and summarized in Table 9.
4.1.4 Proctor Compaction Tests
Golder performed standard Proctor compaction tests of SLF and PBM in order to compare in-place
densities and moisture contents with laboratory derived values of maximum dry density and optimum
moisture content.
Golder performed 21 CQA Standard Proctor compaction tests of SLF. The testing frequency
(approximately one test per 4,592 cubic yards) exceeded the minimum specified testing frequency of
one test per 5,000 cubic yards. The SLF compaction test results aze presented in Appendix I-2 and
summazized in Table 10. CQC Proctor tests were not included in the Proctor testing frequency.
Golder performed no CQA Standazd Proctor compaction tests of the SF samples taken due to
• materials having in excess of 30 percent retained on the '/<-inch screen. ASTM D698 requires
material have less than 30 percent retained on the'I<-inch screen in order to be testable with regazd to
Standazd Proctor compaction.
Golder performed one CQA Standard Proctor compaction test of PBM. No testing frequency was
identified in the CQA Plan for this material. The PBM compaction test results are presented in
Appendix I-2 and summarized in Table 8. CQC Proctor tests were not included in the Proctor testing
frequency.
4.1.5 Permeability Tests
Golder conducted permeability tests of SLF. Golder conducted 21 permeability tests of recompacted
samples of SLF at Golder's laboratory in Lakewood, Colorado. The testing frequency (approximately
one test per 4,592 cubic yazds) exceeded the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per
5,000 cubic yards. Testing was performed with aflexible-wall permeameter with back-pressure
saturation and a constant rate of flow (ASTM D5084, Method D). The fill was recompacted to the
• in-place density measured during nucleaz density tests and the corresponding moisture content (as
uw~~znmowmcen~.+enrv..zaanwzzzroawazsrncsMSrvnaa Golder Associates
