SUBURBAN SAND AND GRAVEL CD. PAGE 2
APRIL 24, 2003
Technical Revision - 2003
Exhibit D - MINING PL~4N
In 1979 when this permit was approved a 10.00 acre parcel on
the east side of the site was going to be left for recreational
uses when it reclaimed. in the past couple of years, as mining on
adjoining properties was completed it was noticed that there
appears to be a deep seam of gravel crossing under the 10 acre
parcel. investigation has found that the gravel under the con-
crete batch plant is nearly 70 feet deep justifying its removal.
In 2000 South Adams Water and Sanitation District (SAWSD) and
Denver Water Department purchased the Road Runners Rest II Pit,
with the exception of this 10 acres, for inclusion in their water
storage complex. It is our understanding that they will eventu-
ally line this pit for water storage. They have shown interest in
acquiring the 10 acres for additional storage but it has to be
mined. For this reason we have shown that the slopes between
Suburbans 10 acres and SAWSD land are removed also bringing the
total new mining area to approximately 13 acres.
This Technical Revision does not make a significant change in
the approved Reclamation Plan, it actually reduces the amount of
revegetation needed since most of the area will become lake where
no revegetation is needed. It does not increase the area of the
disturbance or the permit area since it is in the current permit
area.
Initially the 10.00 acre parcel will be mined from west to
east. To do this the office, and shop buildings would be removed.
As mining progresses to the east, the concrete batch plant would
be removed. The outer slopes in along the north, south and east
sides of this area would be mined at their final rate of 3h to lv.
This will provide the stability needed to protect offsite struc-
tures as required. We estimate this change in the mining plan
will extend the life of the mining operation by 2 to 4 years as
Suburban removes the additional gravel in the mine.
