Southfield Mine Minor Revision Request No. 20 -South Fan /nsra!ladon • /S
• Operating noise from the fan installation will be minimized by the type of
fan being used, installation of the fan in an enclosed housing, and the
location of the fan installation relative to potential receptors. Noise levels
outside of the fan housing are not expected to exceed 45-50 dbA with
noise levels beyond 200 feet from the installation dropping below 40 dbA.
At the adjacent access road used by the landowner to the south, noise
levels will be almost imperceptible due to the combination of distance
attenuation and barrier effect.
Reclamation and Closure (2.05.4)
Upon completion of mining in the southern portion of the Southfield
reserves or when the south fan installation is no longer required to provide
adequate ventilation, EFCI will remove the fan installation, seal the fan
portal and reclaim the associated disturbance areas.
•
The fan housing, fan, drive motor and associated control and monitoring
systems will be removed from the site and either salvaged, if still in good
operating condition, or sold as scrap. Since all electrical distribution
components will be owned by SCPC they will be responsible for removal
and final disposition of powerlines, poles, transformers and related
components.
Foundations will be broken up and removed and resulting debris will either
be backfilled in the fan portal or placed at the toe of the portal bench to be
covered by subsequent fill placement.
A permanent seal will be constructed on the fan portal to prevent access
and enhance the long-term stability of the portal area. The seal will be a
• double concrete block wall keyed into the mine entry at least 6 inches on
all sides. Seal construction is illustrated by Figure 21, Typical Portal Seal,
w¢ rte. • P.O. Bni 7740!8 • su~a~.sP.+„a,, ~rorom 801n • (30)}879-6260
