• Southfield Mint Minor Rnision Regrttst No. 20 -South Fan Installation • 13
As pre-law features, no provision was made for drainage or erosion control
on the associated disturbance areas. Upon completion of the limited
construction activities required to extend the existing powerline, EFCI
proposes to establish waterbars every 50-100 feet along the length of the
powerline access road, as appropriate based on gradient. Road drainage
from the powerline access road presently flows down and across the road,
discharging to the heavily vegetated slope on the northeast side of the road.
Installation of waterbars will not change the general location or direction of
discharge, but will limit flow length and related erosion potential along the
road.
Upon completion of the erosion control work, EFCI proposes to block
access to both the powerline access road and referenced unimproved road
by placing either large rocks or earthen berms at the road entrances.
•
Stabilize Mine Entries and Construct Seals
The existing fan entry for the Monarch No. 4 Mine will be utilized as the
discharge airway for the proposed fan installation. In order to insure the
long-term integrity of the airway and provide for effective airflow, EFCI will
clean any loose rock or other debris from this entry, place timbers,
rockbolts or other support as necessary, and construct permanent stoppings
or seals on intermediate panel entries.
It is anticipated that EFCI will construct 6 permanent seals as shown on the
South Mine Fan Installation Map, (Map 30), to isolate the discharge airway
from the connecting mine workings. Seals will be of approved MSHA
design consistent with EFCI's existing ventilation plan. Areas inby the seals
• will be timbered, bolted or otherwise supported to prevent caving which
could affect the seals.
A(2 /,K. • P.O.
