Bulldog 14ountain Operation
Operating Plan
Page 5
~~
redefined as permanent for access to pumping facilities after the construction
has been completed.
Access to the dam for grouting of seepage will 6e over the existing permanent
tailings dam road and on top of the dam structure,
Vehicles and construction equipment needing access to the slurry wall and
drainage collection trench will include four-wheel drive Vehicles, drill rigs,
water trucks, temporary pipelines, dozer backhoe, grader, pumps, dump truck,
loader and ancillary.equipment for drilling and mixing slurry.
Reclamatinn
Land disturbance resulting from the construction activity is grouped into the
following areas. Reclamation to be performed in each of the areas, following
construction is described.
Top of dam. The permanent tailings dam road extends to the top of the
dam structure itself for maintenance access to the ex isti.ng tailings
line discharge. This ungravelled area is well drained arid has minimal
vehicle traffic. Native grasses cover the dam top except in the wheel
tracks.
The drilling a.nd grouting operation on the top of the dam may result in
some damage to the vegetation. In that event, the dam top area will be
revegetated so that its future appearance will be unchanged from its
present appearance.
Slurry wall, drainage trench and retention embankment dam. This area
located below the dam toe comprising approximate y~acres will undergo
the greatest change from the construction effort. See Figures 3 and 4.
All topsoil removed through required excavation will be stockpiled and used
to redress the top and back slopes of the retention embankment which over-
lays the slurry wall. Temporary construction roadways and fill excavation
pits will be reshaped fora pleasing appearance. Except for the drainage
trench, the riprapped retention dam embankment, and the spillway, the entire
area will be re-seeded with native vegetation under Forest Service specifications.
Interceptor trench. The existing dam interceptor trench will be extended
f~~,~ on both sides of the dam structure so that the intercepted surface run-
off will flow below tfie new retention embankment dam. Total extension
will amount to 1400 feet.
