Bulldog Mountain Operation
Operating Plan
Page 4

lace a grout curtain under the slurry wall to prevent seeps
hat may occur through known fractures or coarse sandstones.
The grout curtain would consist of a bentonite cement mix placed to a
depth of 75 to 90 feet below the slurry wall. Additional drill holes
below or south of the slurry wall will be used to monitor ground water
conditions.
Considerations
An invitiation to bid and contract documents giving all background data and
investigative information will be prepared fora combined engineering and
construction bid.
All bids will be submitted with separate estimates for each phase of work
pertaining to the remedial methods proposed above. In addition thereto,
all bids will include the engineer-contractor's recommended remedial measures
which may or may not include all methods proposed above by Homestake.
The Contract Documents will have the necessary flexibility to undertake the
most effective remedial program which is economically feasible.
Land Affected
The land on which the remedial construction work will be conducted is in the
Rio Grande National Forest situated in Sections 1 and 2, T 41 North, Range
I West, Mineral county, Colorado. Homestake Mining Company is the owner
of certain unpatented mill site claims listed by name and attached hereto,
all of which have been duly filed and recorded in the courthouse in Mineral
County, Colorado. These mentioned mill site claims cover the affected
land area to be disturbed in performance of this operating plan. See Figure 2.
Access
In order to gain access to the slurry wall and the drainage collection trench
for construction equipment, a temporary access road of minimum standards
commensurate with the needs of the operation will be maintained from the
La Font property (privately owned) which borders on the south side of the
block of mill site claims to the construction site below the dam.
In the event that permission cannot be obtained to cross the La Front property,
access for construction equipment will use the existing temporary road which
now connects the permanent tailings dam road to the construction site and
existing pump house. It is requested that this existing temporary road be
