Details relating to actual monitoring devices will be
.r incorporated into the permit by reference.
2. Monitoring Well Program.
(a) Monitoring well designs for wells outside the
wellfield, and referred to as "dedicated" monitor
wells by the permittee, are as follow (Appendix D,
Figures 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19):
USGS-75-11B (Test Hole TH75-11B): monitor a 20-
foot zone just above the Dissolution Surface.
USGS-75-11A (Test Hole TH75-11A): monitor a 20-
foot zone across the A-Groove.
MMC-IRI-9: monitor a 20-foot interval of the B-
Groove.
MMC-IRI-1: monitor the perched aquifer.
MMC-IRI-4: monitor a 20-foot zone above the
Dissolution Surface.
MMC-IRI-S: monitor a 20-foot interval of the B-
Groove.
MMC-IRI-6: monitor the perched aquifer & a 20-
foot interval across the A-Groove.
(b) The permittee shall construct three upgradient
wells in the vicinity of MMC-IRI-1 and in an EPA-
approved manner, to monitor the Dissolution
Surface, B-Groove, and A-Groove.
(c) The permittee shall utilize the IRI-26-EX-2 to
monitor a 20-foot zone above the Dissolution
Surface (Appendix D, Figure 21) and use a second
well to monitor the B-Groove (Appendix D, Figure
22).
(d) Select, former production wells shall be converted
to monitoring wells. As downdip wells are taken
out of production, they shall be used as
monitoring wells for the Dissolution Surface and
H-Groove (Appendix D, Figures 23 and 24 ). The
monitoring program shall include continuous
monitoring of the piezometric head and water
quality data collection (Appendix D, Table 2).
Water quality samples shall be collected on a
monthly basis, and piezometric head data shall be
recorded continuously.
