Based on these maps site SDT1326 (a prehistoric camp
previously determined by ow office to require additional information to evaluate its eligibility for the
National Register of Historic Places) is located outside of the area which may experience subsidence. As a
result, it is the opinion of our office that the proposed mining activities will have no effect on this resowce.
However, there is the possibility that as yet unidentified cultural resowces exist within the proposed permit
area. Should unidentified archaeological resowces be discovered in the course of the project, work must be
interrupted until the resowces have been evaluated in terms of the National Register of Historic Places
eligibility criteria (36 CFR 60.4) in consultation with ow office.
As noted in yow previous correspondence the surface ]and in the proposed permit revision area is managed
by the US Forest Service (Gunnison National Forest). As such they have been copied on this
correspondence.
Thank you for the opportunity to comment. If we may be of further assistance, please contact Greg Wolff,
Section 106 Compliance Coordinator, at (303) 866-4674.
Sincerely,
~,.-~~~r C~~s~
eorgianna Contiguglia
State Historic Preservation Officer
GC/GAW
Cc: Leigh Ann Hunt, Archaeologist, Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre, & Gunnison National Forests
