Carson:
Based on eight years of hydrologic monitoring of the White River Nahcolite Minerals
(WRN) Site, WRN reque;sts approval to modify the water level and quality suppling
program. WRN data indicates that project affects will be detected first by water level or
potentiometric changes. Water quality changes are a secondary reaction following
water level chu~ges. Water quality effects have taken months to be detected, but
drilling, mi(ung or dewata;riug affects have been noted on the water levels (esp.
Dissolution Surface aquifer) on a hourly or daily basis. The wells near mining activities
are the only wells (EX-2 and water we1190-1) which have shown mining affects.
Therefore, modification of the hydrology monitoring section is based on ui expanded
water level monitoring program and a reduction in water quality sampling frequency of
remote.monitoring wells. Recently completed monitoring wells BG-1 and DS-2 will be
monitored for water quality (field and lab) montlily and provide additional water quality
and level data close to the mini~ig operation.
.Whits'Rivsr Nwhcolits:Mlner~l~,~L1~nlt~d.Llablllty Company
P.
