' If the degree of contamination of the wells is known, they will be
' sampled in an ascending degree of contamination, with the least
contaminated well being sampled first.
' After use, each bailer, pump and bucket used in t11e sampling
procedure will be cleaned using the procedures as outlined in this
' protocol. The cleaning procedure will be quality-controlled as
outlined under, the "Field Quality Control " section (Section 2i. 3) .
' Following a bailing/pumping series of no more than 5 samples, a
rinse blank will be collected from the cleaned apparatus~by running
laboratory-provided deionized, distilled water throughout the
' entire bailer/pump apparatus. Analysis of this rinse blank will be
used to validate cleaning procedures.
' Immediately after collection, all samples must be pladed in iced
coolers.
' Sample preservation, pre-treatment and holding times, ~s outlined
' in Table 5, will be strictly adhered to.
' 2.2.9 Field Parameter Measurements: Standard procedures should be
followed to maintain consistent measurements of field parameters.
' These standard procedures are as follows:
(1) Instruments should be calibrated at the beginn~,ng of each
' sampling day, using a known standard solution. Field
instrumentation calibration procedures are dodumented in
Table 6.
(2) The samples to be measured should be collected in a
sample container that has been cleaned at bast twice
' with the same water that is being measured.
-15-
1
