2. No personnel working on the geogrid shall smoke, wear damaging shoes or engage in <br />other activities [hat could damage the geogrid. <br />3. On slopes, the geogrid shall be secwely anchored and then rolled down the slope in <br />such a manner as to continually keep the sheet m tension. <br />4. Geogrid panels shall be deployed in such a manner as to preclude wrinkles and folds. <br />5. Geogrid within the lined area shall be cut with a cutter approved by CC&V, such as <br />scissors. Unshielded razor knives are not acceptable. <br />6. Two layers of geogrid shall be installed as indicated on the Drawings. The layers will <br />be placed at right angles to each other as dvected by the CERTIFYING ENG WEER. <br />7. The subgrade shall be prepared for geogrid placement by uniform grading. No steep <br />grade changes or edges shall be allowed. The CERTIFYING ENGINEER shall <br />approve the subgrade prior to geogrid installation. The subgrade must not be smooth <br />rolled. <br />B. Joining <br />I. The geogrid shall be placed in continuous pieces downslope. <br />2. If the geogrid is to be joined end to end, a pinned connection splice shall be used. The <br />pinned connection must be manufactured from FIDPE materials and shall be <br />manufacrurer approved. <br />C. Defects and Repairs <br />• 1. All damaged geogrid rolls shall be rejected. No repairs shall be made. <br />3.03 PLACEMENT OF SOIL OR GRANULAR MATERIALS: <br />All soil materials located on top of a geogrid shall be placed in such a manner as to enswe: <br />1. The geogrid is not damaged. <br />2. Minimal movement and wrinkling or folding of the underlying geogrid layer(s) occurs. <br />3. No excess tensile stresses shall occw in the geogrid such as when earth moving equipment makes <br />sudden starts, stops, or toms. <br />4. Soil placement over the geogrid shall be performed with constmction equipment approved by the <br />CERTIFYING ENGINEER. Such construction equipment includes low to moderate ground <br />presswe dozers (e.g., D-6 or D-8 CAT dozer). Dozers will push soil materials over the geogrid <br />from the bottom of the slope in an uphill direction. <br />5. A minimum of 6" of soil cover shall be placed over the geogrid layers. No construction <br />equipment shall operate directly on the geogrid layer or on less than 6" of soil cover. <br />6. Soil cover over the geogrid shall consist of Select Stmcrural Fill and shall be compacted and <br />placed according to Select Stmctural Fill SPECIFICATIONS in Section 2200. <br />7.
