Operator's Outline
• E. Revegetation seed mixtures
1. The revegetation seed mixtures are designed specifically for this
operation. Deviation from these designs should be avoided or the
quality of the final vegetation may be adversely affected.
a. Deviations due to unavailability of certain species are acceptable.
In those cases, a similar species that is available should be
substituted.
b. Deleting a species from the mix because it is unavailable is only
allowable if there is not substitute available. In such cases, the
rates of all other species must be adjusted to keep the seeds per
square foot at an amount close to the designed seeds per square
foot.
F. Revegetation analysis
1. Qualitative examination of the revegetation should be done monthly
between March 15 and October 1. Qualitative examination should
continue until bond release. The frequency of examination can be
reduced after three years of revegetation development.
a. Examination should include but not be limited to the following
(1) Weed vs. desired species proportions
(2) Noxious and prohibited weed presence
(3) Nutritional deficiency symptoms
2. Photographs of each area should be maintained m a cataloged archival
format.
3. Quantitative analysis
a. Once a year (June) or preferably twice a year (June and August),
revegetation areas should be quantitatively sampled for a period
of at least three years after initial revegetation.
b. Sampling should be done for the following parameters
(1) Species presence
(2) Density
(3) Cover
(4) Growth rate and condition of designated monitoring
woody plants (trees and shrubs)
G. Revegetation Management
1. Noxious and Prohibited Weeds -Prompt control action is required upon
discovery of any such weed species.
2. Spot seeding -Weak areas in the vegetation cover should be spot seeded
as soon as a weak growth location is detected.
3. Erosion control -Bench collapses, erosion of weak vegetation areas,
and other degrading processes should be promptly treated upon
discovery. The actual corrective action will depend upon the nature of
the problem.

Pikeview Quarry Amendment Page 5
