In order w document the adequacy of existing drainage controls,
TCC has completed appropriate hydrologic design analyses (SEDCAD). New or revised sections of the
PAP reflecting the drainage analyses (SAE/ABCs) accompany these responses as a component of the
above referenced Technical Revision.
5) Retietvarxl mrmi a rnern~i' ~outdatcrl ar ~ ~soiptiazs in thePAP with r~ard to haul roads (July 12, 2004
InspaTiaa~. New or revised sections of the PAP reflecting revised or updated roads discussions
accompany these responses as a separate Technical Revision. We have revised the PAP text discussions,
and mapped designations of individual haul roads on the Mine Surface Facilities Map (Map 24), to reflect
current road configuration and use. A package of existing PAP design documentation for individual haul
roads accompanies these responses for reference. Where current road configuration varies from previous
design information, we are in the process of revising and reconciling road profiles and cross-secnons and
will provide this documentation within two weeks following this submittal.
6) Reuervard ra~igreate l ~aeuuter and dazarauaaicn in the PAP far tlx Disposal A mu 1 Irrl7awxbiau and ~
Wash Plarn Thial?a~r Irr~tt (trdzr~rg a c~oiptiaz g~ use or gc~utiar (Nore~rlxi' 20041rtsjztziarf . Sar
diso~ssiar urxler-HI'DROLOGICBALANCE.
Response: The subject water bodies have existed for many years and were not previously identified or
considered as "impoundments° under the regulatory definition. As a result of recent changes in regulatory
interpretation, the GDMG has determined that these water bodies fall under the broad definition of
"impoundments" and should be identified and regulated as such. Therefore, TCC has reviewed and
revised or updated, as appropriate, the PAP discussions relating to impoundments to include the two
identified water bodies. New or revised sections of the PAP reflecting the revised or updated
impoundment discussions accompany these responses as a separate Technical Revision. We are in the
process of developing maps, stage-storage information, and spillway/discharge information reflecting the
crurent configuration of these two water storage areas and cross-checking this information re; the
applicable regulatory requirements for impoundments (Ku1e 4.05.9). Given that these water storage
facilities have existed for a number of years and were not originally designed or constructed as
impoundments, some additional effort is required to correlate current configuration and operation to the
regulatory requirements. The remaining supporting documentation will be provided within two weeks
following this submittal
~ Adcbss pa¢atiat cf the topsail storage pile at the Northwest Maims l/erttilatiart Shaft Sre disaasian urxler
TOPSOIL.
es ns : Cm completion of construction activities for the Northwest Mains Ventilation Shaft, the
topsoil storage pile was reseeded and drainage/erosion control features established Vegetative
establishment on the pile was poor and, as noted in the inspection repon, some minor maintenance of the
drainage structures is needed. TCC has reseeded this area and completed minor maintenance of the
associated drainage structures.
