STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN (SWMP)
AND EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL REPORT
FOR
ST. VRAIN LAKE GRADING IMPROVEMENT PLANS
Page 12
strips, protection of trees, and preservation of mature vegetation. All
seeding, fertilizers, and mulching shall conform to the approved
construction plans, the Weld County Criteria and the Urban Drainage
guidelines. All disturbed areas shall be stabilized by seeding in
accordance with the seed mix specified on the approved erosion control
plan. The engineer may require additional BMPs as necessary to
retard sediment transport.
Non-structural controls for this site shall include permanent seeding and
mulching.
• Mulching is the application of a layer of plant residue or similar
i j materials over a certain area in order to reduce the effects of
raindrop surface impact, slow the velocity of overland flow and
• i reduce wind erosion.
_,
Blankets, Netting, or Matting can be used on permanent slopes
~ steeper than 3:1 to reduce erosion.
;1
• Temporary Seeding is required in areas that have been graded but
are not to be permanently re-vegetated for an extended period (not
to exceed 2 years). Seeding produces a vegetative cover, which
greatly decreases the effects of erosion.
B. Materials Handling and Spill Prevention
1. Materials Management Practices
Materials are sometimes used at the construction site that present a
potential for contamination of storm water runoff. These include fuel,
oil, lubricants, paints, solvents, concrete-curing compounds and other
liquid chemicals such as fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides.
Practices that can be used to prevent or minimize toxic materials in
runoff from a construction site are described in this section.
A list of all potentially toxic or hazardous chemicals used shall be
maintained on the site. Warning labels must be attached to all
potentially toxic or hazardous chemicals. Material Safety Data Sheets
