STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN (SWMP)
AND EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL REPORT
FOR
ST. VRAIN LAKE GRADING IMPROVEMENT PLANS
Page 8
III. Best Management Practices for Storm Water Pollution Prevention
BMPs that will be used for storm water pollution prevention include structural
and non-structural BMPs for erosion and sediment control as well as materials
handling and spill prevention measures. A detailed Stormwater Management
Plan (SWMP) will be required for the construction activities associated with the
grading required to enhance the lakes of the St. Vrain Lakes development. All
personnel responsible for implementation and maintenance of BMPs should
review and understand the BMPs identified in the SWMP. The BMPs that will
be detailed and identified in the SWMP will contain non-structural BMPs, as well
as erosion and sediment control details from several of the many available
sources, including:
Denver Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD), Drainage
Criteria Manual, Volume 3, 1999.
California Stormwater Best Management Practice Handbook: Construction
Activity, State of California, 1993.
"' BMP measures identified in this document and plan may be applicable to the
~ site. These BMPs should be viewed as a "toolbox" of water quality protection
measures. It may not be necessary to use all BMPs listed herein; however, the
` ' water quality protection strategy for the site should draw on measures from
. , these sections to have a plan that is appropriate for the site and a particular
phase of construction.
. ~ It should be noted that there is no definitive set of design details for
erosion and sediment controls and BMPs for construction. BMPs and
` ' erosion and sediment controls must be designed and implemented to
work with the unique characteristics of the site. The BMPs identified
hereafter show "typical" applications of BMPs and erosion and sediment
controls. Actual implementation of measures on the site may vary from
' ' these details, so long as the intents of the measures are preserved.
~ ' When necessitated by dry and windy conditions, fugitive dust will be controlled
' ' by watering exposed un-vegetated areas with potable water.
