STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN (SWMP)
_ AND EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL REPORT
~` FOR
~ ` ST. VRAIN LAKE GRADING IMPROVEMENT PLANS
1' Page 9
~,
Tt
1 ` All structural practices will be inspected once every 14 days and after every
precipitation event. Upon discovery, any degradation of structures described in
the plan or excessive accumulation of sediments will be remedied within 48
' ' hours.
` A. Erosion and Sediment Controls
i~
., Erosion and sediment control BMPs will be used to minimize the amount of
soil transported to receiving waters and/or wetlands from areas disturbed as
a result of construction activities. BMPs may be classified as:
.,
j Temporary (operative during construction)
1 Permanent (continuing after construction)
_,
• Structural (e.g. silt fences, swales, ponds, sediment traps, surface
~ grading, storm sewers, drainageways (including roads), etc.)
;I
• Non-structural (e.g. limiting disturbed areas, timing projects to avoid
~' heavy precipitation, soil stabilization, mulching, street sweeping,
- } maintaining buffer zones, education and outreach to production staff
and sub-contractors on erosion and sediment control practices, good
housekeeping, and other SWMP provisions, etc.)
.;
Four basic approaches are used for controlling erosion from storm water
runoff in construction areas:
.,
1. Stages of construction that disturb surtace soil are sequenced to
minimize the amount of time during which soil is exposed to potential
erosion conditions.
2. Temporary re-vegetation, or surface roughening and mulching is used if
~ ~ construction areas must remain bare for periods of time long enough to
_ pose a potential erosion threat.
~,
~,
