• If sufficient overburden remains at the end of mining, a small island for wildlife habitat will be
created as shown on Map F, Reclamation Plan Map. The size of the island will depend on the
amount of over burden that remains after mining is complete. However, for the purpose of
calculating the reclamation bond, the island is assumed to have a maximum size of 17.27 acres,
which would be the worst case scenario in a bond forfeiture scenario. It is anticipated that this
island would be created by the time Phase 10 is completed. If created, the island will have a top
elevation of 4952, which is estimated to be four feet above the anticipated water surface
elevation of the lake and a size varying between 0.0 acres and 17.27 acres. The island will have
a slope of 4H:1 V from the top of the island to ten feet below the water surface. From ten feet
below the water surface to the bottom of the island, the slope will be 2H:1 V. The wetland fringe
azound the island will be fifteen feet wide. A minimum of twelve inches of topsoil will then be
placed on the entire island except the azea that is greater than ten feet below expected water
level. The exposed section of the island will be vegetated with the dryland seed mix while the
wetland fringe will be vegetated with the wetland seed mix, as presented in the Revegetation
• Plan section of this exhibit.
The total amount of material required to achieve the planned reclamation with the maximum size
island (17.27 acres) is estimated to be 3,150,445 cubic yazds. Of this amount, 168,609 cubic
yards will be topsoil while the remainder, 2,981,836 cubic yards, will be overburden.
The worst case reclamation scenario occurs when mining is completed in Phase 11. At this
point, all previous mining areas will have been backfilled and graded. Reclamation at this point
will consist of backfilling the 2H:1 V slope along the west and south faces of Phase 11 to the
3H:1 V slope as shown on Map F; replacing topsoil on and revegetating the reclaimed slopes;
removal of several structures such as the Redi-mix plant and fuel bunker and reclaiming the
Redi-mix/asphalt plant azea; and revegetating the wetland fringe around the lake perimeter and
island perimeter. The reclamation timetable is shown below in Section 2 and in Table E-1. The
worst reclamation costs associated with the worst case scenario is calculated in Exhibit L:
Reclamation Costs.
1
Anderson Pit, Apri107 E-2
