Reclamation on the west side of the <br />pit cannot begin until mining in Phase 4 has been completed. <br />Mining in Phase 3 will start when mining in Phase 2 has been completed and will move <br />in a northeast direction. Reclamation will begin within one year of completing mining in <br />this phase. <br />Phase 4 will be the final area to be mined. The direction of mining will be to the west. <br />The area is not expected to be mined until the year 2024 or later. <br />Mining Slopes <br />The operator will mine to the 8550' elevation creating slopes varying from 2:1 to 3:1. <br />This depth was assumed based on the mined depth of the current operation which has <br />not hit groundwater <br />Earthmoving Operations <br />There will be clearing of any vegetation and stripping of topsoil prior to mining. Six-foot <br />high berms will be constructed as needed around the permit boundary to minimize visual <br />impact. Front-end loaders will be used to move material to stockpile locations. Loaders, <br />haul trucks and/or conveyors will move material to the processing, asphalt and concrete <br />plants. <br />Description of Overburden, Deposit and Underlyinp Stratum <br />There is approximately 4 inches of topsoil present on the proposed site. The deposit is a <br />clean, well-sorted glacial deposit of unknown depth. The applicant will only mine to <br />within 2 feet of the seasonal high ground water table. <br />Primary and Secondary Commodities <br />The primary commodities to be mined are sand and gravel. These are expected to be <br />used for construction aggregates.
