locations and may move within the Staging Area. 'there will be no fuel storage tanks or fuel farm
on the site other than the tanks that aze part of the portable plants. The portable mining equipment
such as loaders, dozers, trucks and excavators will be serviced on an as-needed basis from a porta-
ble service truck making short visits to the site. Upon reclamation, all portable equipment will be
removed from the site.
There is an existing fence along the majority of the permit boundary to the west and north. An-
other fence lies outside and along the boundary to the east. Some fencing owned by the landowner
will be removed in the South Pit Area. This fencing along ~~rith the berms will provide an easily
visible perimeter surrounding the permit area. No problems are expected with vandalism. It is ex-
tremely unlikely that any toxic or acid-producing materials will be encountered during the mining
operation since the past mining shows that the material is alluvial in nature. However, in the event
that such materials are encountered, they will be covered with subsoil and topsoil from the stock-
piles to the same depths outlined in the reclamation plan and no more mining will occur in this
area. '
The operator commits to clearly marking the pennit boundary with stakes surveyed on site.
The site will use all existing roads to haul the product to its final destination. It is planned that the
material may be used to re-surface existing roads or provide new road base for any new roads
within an economic distance to the site.
1f any "reportable quantity" of hazardous material or waste is re]eased into the environment; the
operator will notify staff of the Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology as well as all other
appropriate local, state and federal agencies
6. Topsoil ,Overburden and Naturals Handling
Before mining occurs in both pit areas the topsoil will be stripped and stockpiled along the uphill
boundary as seen in Map C-2. The original 112 Permit describes the topsoil being 0-0.5' in depth.
Current mining has shown the topsoil to average about 0.3'. This combined with historical loss of
topsoil has caused a shortage of topsoil for reclamation. This shortage will be remediated through
Cugnini 12/03 16
