A breakdown of the estimated
South Pit areas are included in Table D-4. Before mining, ditches #l, 2, 6, and 7 will be built or
improved. An isolation berm will be constructed from bank material along the downhill border of
the South Pit mining area as mining progresses. After all containment structures are constructed,
the topsoil from South Pit Mining Area 1 will be stripped and placed along the uphill edge of the
South Pit. Topsoil from future phases will be used to reclaim the slopes of previous azeas. This
will reduce material moving as well as reduce the maximum azea to be reclaimed at any one time.
A table of expected mining lives for each area are included in'1'able ll-5.
